BCC community plays a starring role in Annie the Musical

The sun has come out…. Annie the Musical a shining example of performing arts excellence.

Our Middle and Senior school production of Annie was a roaring success—with sold-out shows, spectacular performances and audiences thrilled with the talent on display.

This was the first time our Middle and Senior School has produced a musical and the level of performance across the stage, orchestra, set design, costume and production, has set a very high bar.

And it wasn’t just our cast who shone brightly—it certainly takes a village to put on a show-stopping production like this one, and everyone involved played a part.

The show’s orchestra and backstage crew included staff, alumni, parents and members of the broader BCC community. The team also worked with talented professionals from across the Bundaberg performing arts community in their choreography, costumes and set design.

BCC’s 2024 Production for Annie began in Term 4 of 2023, followed by months of hard-knock work, grueling rehearsals and planning.

Annie Behind the Scenes, comprised of 3 shows including 38 students, 25 staff, over 20 parent and community volunteers, 14 scenes, 16 songs, 4 sets, 2-4 costume changes per cast member, 30 musical numbers, over 215 pages of sheet music, over 1000 tickets sold; plus an orchestra made up of 6 music teachers, 1 staff alumni, 1 parent, 4 students, 3 student alumni and 4 community musicians.

Our cast pushed themselves, with most of them having no prior stage experience, undertaking additional vocal and dance training. Even seven-month-old Groodle Max made his theatre debut and did a wonderful job in bringing the ‘awwwws’ as Annie’s lovable pooch Sandy!

Seeing our team collaborate, pray together, cheer each other on, and strive for excellence was not only inspiring… but just a glimpse of what BCC performing arts students can achieve in the years to come.

Annie the Musical is a testament to the power of family, friendship, and hope for a brighter tomorrow. Annie may have taught us that "you're never fully dressed without a smile," and our entire BCC community certainly wore theirs with pride.
