New Sports Complex a game changer for Bundaberg Christian College
Bundaberg Christian College (BCC) has officially opened its new undercover Sports Complex, marking a significant milestone in the College’s focus on providing students with exceptional sporting opportunities.
Featuring two full size multi-sport courts, a gym and open teaching spaces, the state-of-the-art facility will be used for both physical education classes and extracurricular training, including the newly launched Lions Sports Program.
Principal Mr Paul Thompson said the new Sports Complex offered students from Prep to Year 12 even more opportunities to achieve sporting excellence.
“BCC is a growing school and we’re also growing our sports program—offering new high-level training in basketball and volleyball, alongside our development squads and comprehensive health and physical education curriculum,” Mr Thompson said.
“With our existing multipurpose hall and extensive outdoor fields, we now have the capacity to host multiple lessons, training sessions and competitions simultaneously,” he said.
In addition to officially opening the Sports Complex, BCC also officially opened their refurbished science laboratories, Junior School carpark and bus turnaround.
The Sports Complex and science laboratories were designed by Parups Waring Architecture and constructed by Murchie Constructions. The carpark and bus turnaround were constructed by Bundaberg Constructions.
The College is grateful to the Queensland Government who contributed $1.39 million towards the $3.4 million undercover sports Complex, $320,000 towards the $1.3 million science laboratories, and $597,190 towards the $1.1 million carpark and bus turn around.
“I am excited for what these new facilities and developments mean for our College community, and how they will support the holistic development of our students,” Mr Thompson said.
