In practice, Bundaberg Christian College is committed to acting in accordance to the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (Qld) (‘the Act’) to promote the safety and wellbeing of students means that it will implement the measures outlined below in points.

Complaints

The Complaints Handling Policy at Bundaberg Christian College is designed to ensure that all concerns raised by students, parents, staff, and community members are addressed promptly and fairly. Privacy Policy

This policy outlines the Privacy Policy of Bundaberg Christian College who are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy describes how the College uses and manages personal information it is provided and stores. The policy also details how the College will deal with data breaches, suspected or real. This includes satisfying requirements under legislation as well as the needs of Parents/and or guardians, and the student throughout the whole period the student is enrolled in the College.

Technology

At Bundaberg Christian College we encourage and facilitate the responsible use of Digital Technology. While it is genuinely beneficial for a student to have access to electronic devices within the school environment, the inappropriate use of such devices may jeopardise the wellbeing of students and good order or reputation of the College.

The Student Laptop Policy ensures students in Years 5-12 have access to College-provided laptops to support learning, creativity, and collaboration. It outlines responsibilities for students and parents, including care, usage, and financial arrangements, while emphasising cybersafety through advanced monitoring tools. The policy fosters responsible digital citizenship and aligns with the College’s commitment to preparing students for a connected, global future.

Whistleblower

This policy exists to encourage the reporting of corrupt, illegal or other undesirable conduct at the Bundaberg Christian College. It outlines how individuals can appropriately make disclosures about these matters, and how the College will protect those individuals from detrimental consequences.

Work Health & Safety

Bundaberg Christian College is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all staff, students, contractors, volunteers and visitors. We comply with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld), associated Regulations and approved Codes of Practice.

Our approach includes:

  • Eliminating or minimising risks to health and safety, including physical and psychological hazards.
  • Preventing sexual harassment and gender-based harassment in line with current legislation.
  • Consulting with workers and coordinating with other duty holders.
    Providing safe systems of work, training, supervision, and appropriate safety equipment.
  • Notifying Workplace Health and Safety Queensland of notifiable incidents and preserving sites as required.
  • Continuous improvement through our integrated WHS Management System, reviewed annually.

Health and safety is a shared responsibility. Together, we strive to prevent injury and illness and promote wellbeing across our College community.

Governance

Bundaberg Christian College is owned and operated by the legal entity, Bundaberg Christian College Limited, a public company limited by guarantee. Bundaberg Christian College is a not-for-profit company. The College aims to provide holistic education through the integration of spiritual, academic, social and physical aspects from a Biblical perspective. The governance role of the Board is to develop and maintain the strategic direction and philosophy of the College. The Board is also responsible for developing policy and establishing accountability systems.
