Twilight Concert Entertains and Showcases
At the halfway point in the year, our College ensembles would normally be preparing to participate in the annual Bundaberg Eisteddfod. But due to changes in this year’s competition and the COVID restrictions, the decision was made instead to hold a showcase concert at our College campus and allow the parents to enjoy the hard work their students have put in over the last semester especially.
Featuring performances from all of the large ensembles in the Instrumental Music Program; the concert was especially an opportunity for the year 3 and year 5 ensemble groups to showcase how much they have learnt with only 1 semester of their chosen instruments.
The night was overseen by College Instrumental Music Coordinator Mrs Nikki Udal with the dedicated conductors and music teachers bringing out the best in each music student in a tightly run and entertaining concert. From the year 3 Strings just beginning their musical journey to the vocal experience that is Voiceworx – our Middle and Senior School Choir; those attending were rewarded with a great night’s music.
But the concert also comes with mixed emotions. It was a final opportunity for some of the young string players to say goodbye to Mrs Xandria Davern who has made her mark throughout Semester 1 as she took on the teaching of our beginner strings in place of Mrs Rebekah Tonkin who was on maternity leave.
With Mrs Tonkin now returning from maternity leave, it’s Mrs Davern’s turn to begin her motherhood journey and we wish her all the best and thank her for her musical passion and teaching at BCC this year.
Another concert later in the year will showcase our year 3 & 5 beginners further, but in the meantime, we wish all the best to our year 5 ensemble who will be the only BCC group competing at this year’s Bundaberg Eisteddfod.
