← The Rite Journey - Mt Walsh!

Last month, the Year 9 Rite Journey students and teachers set off on their first big challenge...climbing Mt Walsh! The group was in good spirits as we departed in two buses to Biggenden and then onto Mt Walsh. The two male groups, with Mr Hodges, Mr Marsman and Mr McLeod, headed up first. The aim was not only to individually make it to the top, but to never leave anyone behind. The two female groups followed with Mrs Bronkhurst and Mrs Macpherson. The students all pushed themselves and encouraged each other right to the top. There was only a very small group that stopped just under the summit and could not physically go any further. Mrs Bronkhurst stayed with them until the others returned. From that point on, the students descended in single file, quietly reflecting on their own experience and what they had learned about themselves on the climb. Praise God for protecting us all and that there were no serious injuries, apart from some scrapes and bruised knees.

We, as teacher mentors, are looking forward to seeing how our young charges develop in leaving their childish ways behind and adopting mature ways as it says so clearly in 1 Corinthians 13:11; "When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man/woman, I put the childish ways behind me". We are all looking forward to this journey together.
