Bundaberg Christian College has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement for its work in assisting students to understand what a career in technology can offer.

Bundaberg Christian College was formally awarded a Certificate of Achievement by the Australian Computer Society's ICT Gateway to Industry Schools program (GISP).

GISP seeks to assist secondary school students with valuable insights and first-hand experiences into what a career in technology can offer, with connections with over 70 industry partners. By giving access to unique advice and experiences through these partnerships, BCC students will be able to access and trial career prospects in AgTech, software development, cyber security and artificial intelligence, all whilst completing their studies.

Head of Faculty - Technologies, Mr Peter Sercombe points out the advantages to educators in this sector is also an advantage. "ACS provides us with tools, resources, and professional development and also helps to facilitate connections to employers. These employers are looking for specific skills and knowledge and with the assistance of the Australian Computer Society and their Gateway to Industry program, we can shape the learnings of the students with real world practical examples of how an employer would use their knowledge and skillset."
The College is also joining with Greensill Farming, a well established local family business, as an industry partner, linking our love of technology and Agriculture, giving our students local career opportunities into the future.
