Rugby Sevens Impress

What a great team environment we have, we are very proud of the performances the boys have put in, fighting until the very last seconds despite playing extra games to catch up from previous weeks.

What a difference a week makes and a training session with an international coach!

We started off our games by taking on St Luke’s and went down by 4 tries to 1. However this was a valiant effort and it was great to score against St Luke’s, considering they finished runners up at All Schools State 7's competition on the weekend.

Next game we took on Kepnock SHS and defeated them comfortably. We started to play as a team and used plays picked up in training on the Friday with Michael Hooke.

Our third game was a tough one. We played BSHS, who beat us 19-0 in the first week. They started with a second string team, but we fought well and took a lead into halftime. BSHS then put on their best team (through substitutions) to try and win the game, but our boys held on for the win, what a great achievement!

Our final game was very hard on the boys and was the final game of the day. We lost a couple of players due to other commitments, but it was minimal reserves and the fatigue of playing 4 games in quick succession, that really told the story. We started off well against Shalom College and took the lead, however Shalom were well rested with only the two games, they ran away with it at the end. The boys chased and chased but just didn’t have the legs this time around.

I can’t single out and name one person for the efforts because it was a whole team effort this week, even those that never played rugby before!

Next week we are in the finals and anything can happen.
