Dear Parents and Carers

It is a delight to write this article with the sound of children learning throughout the College! We are so blessed to have our students back full time, collaborating with each other and engaging in their classroom activities. As I walk through the College, I am always met with smiling faces, polite greetings and sometimes an offer to play handball. I am impressed with how our students interact with adults and each other, even across different year levels.

There are many things we are looking forward to moving into the future. We do hope that we get confirmation that extra-curricular activities will be able to start up again in Term 3. When we are told by the government that we can resume activities, we will communicate the latest updates with you as they become available. In the meantime, it is important we continue our social distancing measures including adults being limited to being onsite.

Traffic Flow

No doubt for many of you, the afternoon pickup can be a source of frustration. I would ask for patience and understanding during this time. Some observations that might help the flow of traffic include:

Junior School
  • The pickup spots are often filled by 2:35pm. With the end of day finishing at 2:50pm during COVID-19 restrictions, it might help the back up of traffic if some students are able to be picked up closer to 3:10pm. We find the traffic is cleared by 3:20pm.
  • Please always move your car to the furthest pickup spot so others can fill up the spaces behind you.
Middle & Senior School
  • Many parents park in the carpark as part of the 'first wave' of traffic. After 5 or so minutes, the carpark is often empty as these students have been picked up. Please consider moving into the carpark instead of the pickup section to help take the congestion off Ashfield Road.
  • Please always move your car to the furthest pickup spot so others can fill up the spaces behind you.

There will be building works commencing shortly that will help streamline the entry into the College. We look forward to sharing this exciting update upon confirmation of the commencement date.

Devotional Thought

Finally, as we enter in to reporting season, I would encourage you to remember that reports are there to understand the learning progress of your child. When we think about this, our verse of the year speaks into this space so beautifully. "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms" (1 Peter 4:10). Throughout this semester, your child has used the learning gift God has given them to become more agile learners. COVID-19 has required us all to become flexible, with our students demonstrating incredible resilience and productivity during such a challenging time. May we encourage our children to do their best with the academic gifts they have been given.

Yours in Christian Education
