COVID-19 Update

February 2, 2022

The College is expectantly awaiting the return of students for face-to-face learning on Monday 7 February 2022. Our Year 11 and 12 cohorts have started their online learning this week, with staff delighted to be engaging and connecting with students. The long-anticipated day for all students to be on campus has almost arrived, and I am writing to inform parents of the plan for next Monday.

COVID Back to School Plan

Following the announcement of the Queensland Government’s Back to School Plan, the College has put in place a plan to diligently navigate the safety and protection protocols for the return of our learning community. Please familiarise yourself with the following.

Health Advice

If your child is unwell, please keep them at home. Please monitor any Covid-19 symptoms, and if present, please attend your local Queensland Health testing clinic where students will be prioritised to get a free Rapid Antigen Test (RAT). If students present with Covid-19 symptoms at school, parents will be contacted to collect them.

If your child tests positive to Covid-19, please follow Queensland Health guidelines for reporting the test and please alert the College in writing to The College will inform the community (generally) of confirmed Covid-19 cases within the school.

Arrangements for Drop Off & Pick Ups

Parents are encouraged to utilise the drop-off and pick-up areas. Extra parking for Junior School students can be accessed at the oval for the first week. Please follow the signs and watch out for pedestrians.

Parents are permitted to come onto the school grounds. Please wear a face mask, avoid gathering in groups and maintain appropriate physical distance.

Face Masks

Face masks are mandatory for students in Year 7-12 (including students under 12). Students are to wear a mask unless they are seated or able to maintain a 1.5 metre distance from others. Students in Year 3-6 are encouraged to wear a face mask. Exemptions for wearing a mask can be found here.

The school is required to abide by government legislation and direction regarding vaccinations.
As such, the College has in place the requirement for all staff, contractors and volunteers to meet the requirements of the Public Health Direction for mandatory vaccinations.

There is no current mandatory requirement for school students to attend the College (both Chrysalis and the P-12 Campus). The College believes that vaccinations are a decision for parents and can reassure parents that there will be no vaccinations carried out at the College without parental permission.

January 12, 2022

Happy New Year to you and your families! I trust you have had a blessed and restful Christmas and New Year break. I am looking forward to the school year and firmly believe our students will thrive in so many different ways this year.

We find ourselves again wading through uncertain times as a College and a wider community. I’m sure you would agree that these are indeed unprecedented, yet God is in control and He will be our wisdom, strength and peace as, together we look forward to and plan arrangements for the commencement of the 2022 school year.

With this in mind, I write to confirm details around the return of students for 2022. In accordance with the Premier’s announcement:

  • School resumes for Prep to Year 10 on Monday 7 February 2022
  • School resumes online for Years 11 and 12 on Monday 31 January 2022 and in person on Monday 7 February 2022
  • School resumes for Kindergarten at Chrysalis as normal on Monday 24 January 2022.

If you are an essential worker or have a vulnerable child, please register your child/ren’s attendance via this link by Thursday 20 January 2022. The RISE Café will not be available during this time.

As a result of the later start to the academic year, the College will extend the school year by 3 days, Monday to Wednesday 5 to 7 December 2022 for Prep to Year 9 only. Year 10, 11, 12 and Kindergarten will finish as per the calendar.

Students who are 12 years old or older will be required to wear a face mask at the College as per the current health directive. We ask that when parents and carers come on site that they too wear a face mask.

Junior School teachers will email an introduction letter home to those students in their class on Thursday 20 January 2022. Middle and Senior School students will be able to access their timetables online on 28 January 2022.
