BCC Can Challenge helps local families this winter

College Wednesday, 25 May 2022

Bundaberg Christian College students have once again stepped up to help local families in need by collecting canned food for their annual Can Challenge.

Almost 1400 cans were collected by BCC students from both Junior School and Middle and Senior School, and presented to Carrie from Global Care Bundaberg at the Middle and Senior School Assembly.

Global Care Bundaberg Coordinator Carrie said that this year in particular, some Bundaberg families were doing it extra tough and Global Care was receiving more requests for assistance than usual. BCC’s contribution was certainly timely and appreciated.

BCC School Chaplain Kelli Ussher said the Can Challenge was a way of demonstrating BCC’s RISE values and a great, practical way to serve others in need.

Middle and Senior School students collected one house point for each can they donated, with Fonu bringing the most cans forward.

The Junior School class who collected the most cans will be awarded a pizza party…  and that class will be announced at the next Junior School Chapel.

It’s super the way students and their families have engaged with the Can Challenge to help our local community,
— Chappy Kelli
