Announcement New Principal 2020 1

Letter from the Chairman of the Board

To the BCC Community

As Chairman of the BCC Board, I write with great excitement to share an important announcement for our College.

Over the past six weeks, The Board has undertaken a thorough recruitment process, coupled with much prayer, in seeking God’s divine appointment for the position of Principal for Bundaberg Christian College in 2020. The Board was delighted with the level of interest shown in the role and the quality of the applicants. Such results are indicative of the exemplary standing of our College in the eyes of the education community.

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Paul Thompson as the new Principal of Bundaberg Christian College to commence in January 2020.

Mr Thompson comes to us with extensive teaching and leadership experience, having worked in the UK and Canberra, Australia. Most recently Paul has served faithfully in Christian schools in our nation’s capital Canberra, supported by his wife Alice and three young children.

Paul is a genuine education professional of exemplary character, with a reputation demonstrating commendable leadership through a number of middle management and school leadership positions. Paul demonstrates sincere passion for pastoral care and student wellbeing, with a focus on continuous school improvement and school operations

I wish to thank the members of the selection panel for their professionalism, commitment and wisdom in the selection process and for their recommendation of such a genuinely committed and enthusiastic educator and leader for our College.

The Board would also like to acknowledge and thank our community for the heartfelt and earnest prayers offered, as we undertook this important process.

Finally, we congratulate Paul Thompson on his appointment and assure him of our collective support as he takes up this privileged position as leader of our wonderful College.

The College will welcome Mr Thompson later this month, as he visits us for a transitioning process, with more formal introductions being scheduled for our community in the new year.

The Board looks forward to Mr Thompson building on the strong foundation created by Paul Sterling and to seeing the College go from strength to strength in 2020 and beyond.

In Jesus' name
Mr Brent Keune
Board Chair
