2021 Graduate in QLD Top 20

Ask Andrew Udal what his earliest memories are and guarantee its related to music.

The recently graduated student from Bundaberg Christian College has begun the next phase of his music journey studying a Bachelor of Music specialising in Composition. Andrew is already an accomplished composer but is really excited at what opportunities lie ahead while studying at the Griffith University Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

“The way The Con does its program has changed a lot this year compared to previous years” Andrew said on a recent visit back home. “Already we have our first assessment piece that we have to collaborate with and compose with instruments available within our group”.

On top of his acceptance into The Conservatorium and already having had compositions performed; Andrew has received another accolade with recognition from Queensland’s Department of Education.

Andrew was recently awarded a T J Ryan Memorial Medal and Scholarship Program Merit Certificate for 2022. This Scholarship program recognises outstanding leadership by a student in their school alongside community and academic excellence. State and non-state secondary schools can nominate just one high achieving year 12 student for this award and it was Andrew who was nominated by BCC.

Although Andrew was not among one of 15 Queensland Students awarded a monetary prize, he is still among the top 20 of students’ state wide who were recognised with a Certificate of Merit.
