The objectives of the Secondary School curriculum are: - - To provide an educationally sound core of subjects for every student, ensuring skills development in literacy, numeracy and general knowledge that will complement their future career paths.
- To provide some choice within the curriculum to meet the personal needs and interests of individual students.
- To provide a curriculum that caters for students’ varying competencies so that highly capable students can progress at a rapid rate and less capable students can progress according to their own rate of learning.
- To provide, in junior secondary schooling, skills that are prerequisites for certain senior subjects, e.g. Graphics, Home Economics, Health & PE
- To provide, in senior secondary schooling, skills that are prerequisites for certain tertiary courses and vocational opportunities.
- To provide relevant experiences which may prepare the student for the workforce and foster interest in career opportunities.
The high school is working in conjunction with the primary school to develop a P-10 curriculum following the national common curriculum and Key Learning Areas (KLAs). This is an exciting project for staff and students. The fact that our college is P-12 gives us a unique opportunity to offer a seamless curriculum that bridges the gap that often exists between Years 7 and 8.
